Covid-19 Update at 21 Jan

As it is not currently possible to hold live events, we have taken the decision to move Feis Ceoil 2021 entirely online. We know how disappointed our competitors were last year not to be able to perform, as we had to cancel at such short notice.

Although this year’s format will be very different, we would like to keep as close as possible to normal competition conditions. Therefore we will draw up a schedule of competitions spanning the Feis dates – 15th to 26th March, for which we will request submissions by video in advance.

These will be published live here on on the competition’s scheduled day, so that the public and the adjudicator can view them.

We will provide further details and guidelines relating to specific competitions in due course.

In the meantime, please see the following outline points:

  • Videos will be requested in advance (we will advise submission deadlines). Please note that a range of security measures will be put in place to protect competitors’ privacy in accordance with our GDPR and Child Protection policies
  • Acoustic (ie, not digital) pianos must be used, both for piano competitions and accompaniments
  • In competitions which have an official accompanist, a recording by the accompanist will be provided to you and must be used
  • In competitions which call for your own accompanist; live accompaniment or a pre-recorded accompaniment by your accompanist/répétiteur may be used
  • Individual Adjudicator feedback will be provided to each competitor
  • In duo and ensemble competitions, composite videos will be accepted, where it is not possible for competitors to perform in the same space

We understand that you may not wish to participate under these conditions, so if you choose to withdraw, we will be happy to give you a full refund of your entry fee.

If you wish to withdraw, please email, by Sunday 31st January, stating the competitor name, the competition name and the name on the card used for entry fee payment. We will then process your refund.

After this date, we will assume remaining competitors wish to participate.

Comprehensive guidelines, and a final schedule for all stages of the online Feis process will be provided after 31st January.
