From 2026 - Comórtas Larchet and Community Choirs
From 2026, Comórtas Larchet replaces 1.12 Cóir Iar-Bhunscoile (2/3/4 Pháirt)
This exciting development is introduced in partnership with the University of Notre Dame’s Keough-Naughton Institute for Irish Studies and represents the first time Feis Ceoil has commissioned a new work for performance by competitors.
Composer Norah Constance Walsh has written a commissioned setting of Filleadh ar an gCathair by Ailbhe Ní Ghearbhuigh, which will serve as the required test work for all choirs entering Comórtas Larchet in 2026. The work is written for three- or four-part choirs. Preview scores and audio files are available on the Syllabus page.
In addition to the test piece, choirs will present one own-choice work.

Workplace choirs, voluntary groups and non-auditioned community choirs are welcome.
Choirs will perform two contrasting pieces, with full flexibility in style and repertoire. Suitable genres include jazz, gospel and musical theatre, alongside any repertoire that reflects the identity of the choir.
